Do not close a purchase until the survey is complete; the survey is not
complete until the written report is received by the purchaser. If you
close a purchase before the survey is complete, you do so at your own risk.
If you’ve made an offer that has been accepted subject to an acceptable
survey, please advise us of the offer price.

for determining the functionality of all non-essential equipment, such

NMMS conducts surveys of yachts and small craft only, it does not perform
Seller’s Surveys, and it does not perform surveys of the following
boats: wood boats, custom boats, racing boats, high performance boats,
and boats carrying six or more passengers for hire.
Arrangements for hauling and/or launching the boat; un-stepping, re-stepping,
un-storing & re-storing spars & rigging; removing and replacing
covers; opening and repairing shrink wrap; adequate fuel for the dynamic
inspection; a qualified person to pilot the boat while underway; and payment
for those services, if any is required; must be made by the purchaser with
the seller and dockyard.
The purchaser must also arrange for ignition, locker and entry keys, and
for boats 25' and above the purchaser must also make arrangements with
the seller for the documents from the original purchase, the owner’s
manual and the maintenance records to be present at the survey.
Because a professional survey is an arduous, time-consuming, and detailed
process for the surveyor and not a social occasion, no one may attend the
survey, including the sea trial, except the seller, the purchaser or broker,
the propulsion and engine specialist, if any, and the surveyor.
We can usually begin a survey within 48 hours of receiving all essential
information from you. Once the static and dynamic inspections are complete,
the report will be available within three days. If a valuation is required
as well, an additional 24 hours is necessary.
Once you order a survey we will mail, email, or fax to you a contract that
you must sign and return before the survey is scheduled. Payment must be
made by check, money order, or cash before the survey begins. Surveys cancelled
less than 48 hours before the inspection date will be charged in full.
