Fiberglass Sailboat:
Running rigging and stepped, standing rigging will be inspected up to eye level only. Un-stepped standing rigging can be inspected at additional costs to you for the inspection and for any charges from the boat yard for un-stepping and re-stepping or un-storing and re-storing the rigging.
• Complete Pre-Purchase survey without inspection of un-stepped rigging.

For purchase or continued ownership of a fiberglass boat to be used as a commercial or charter vessel, including charter fishing boats, carrying less than six passengers, a “Six-Pack” inspection is also available. These vessels may pass Michigan DNR inspections but not meet USCG regulations, because the DNR does not use all the USCG criteria. A “Six-Pack” inspection covers all the additional USCG requirements and gets you ready for a USCG examination. Don’t get caught unaware in an involuntary boarding or a voluntary UPV (Uninspected Passenger Vessel) examination. Cost of the commercial “Six Pack” inspection for a boat already owned w/o a survey is $6 per foot LOA. A pre-purchase or other survey for commercial or charter vessels includes the “Six-Pack” inspection and adds $3 per foot LOA to the above survey prices.
For a Re-Finance, Insurance, Valuation-only, or In-The-Water survey, subtract $2.00 per foot from the above prices. If the Sea-Trial is not needed and is waived in writing, subtract $1.00 per foot from the above prices. If you do not want a Sea-Trial, you must sign a written waiver of the sea trial. If a Valuation is unnecessary for your purposes subtract $50 from the total price.
HIN certification, Damage/Loss survey, Damage report, Claims assistance, or a Sea-Trial only: $65/hr and $.45/mile. Inspection of un-stepped, standing rigging not as part of a survey: $65/hr and $.45/mile.
Engine and/or generator oil analyses are available for an additional $30 each when the motors can be run. And they are highly recommended for Pre-Purchase Surveys. Such analyses are performed by a laboratory using advanced scientific instruments to measure oil samples taken during the sea-trial for metals from engine components, fuel, water, and other evidence of excessive wear.
First one hundred miles round-trip for a survey are free. Mileage over 100 round-trip for a survey, add $.30/mile. Mileage for second trip on a survey or for other services, add $.45/mile.
Regular U.S. Mail postage is free for oil samples and reports to you, and insurance company or lender. Next day, 2-day, or 3-day delivery of reports and oil samples will be charged at Federal Express published rates.
